Heart disease and stroke take 1 in 3 Canadians every year. Thousands of lives are cut short, moments lost forever, dreams left unfulfilled. But we can change this: each of us can make a commitment to defy death, and together we can give Canadians more time, more life.
In January 2012, a group of exceptional Albertans joined together in a new venture: the Heart&Stroke Death Defying Challenge. These individuals and families made a commitment to health, engaging their families and friends in lifestyle choices that lead to longer, fuller lives. They also raised much-needed funds to support life-giving research and vital health education programs. We asked them to re-think death defying – and they did so with dedication, determination, and real heart. Because it doesn’t take a death-defying act to defy death!
The Death Defying Challenge website will remain open for final donations until February 29, 2012. Our sincere thanks to all our participants this year, and to all their friends, family and colleagues who supported their commitment.
